When celebrating a 100th Birthday there is a lot of history that goes along with the birthday man or woman. When a person has reached this age in life a large celebration is certainly the order for the day. There are so many different ways to celebrate the person’s eligibility to join the centurion club.
Throughout the history of the United Kingdom, only the rich and royal celebrated their birthdays. As time went by, the commoners began to celebrate too. Tradition held that, on a person’s birthday, they were susceptible to evil forces. So, friends and family celebrated and chased away those evil forces.
History teaches us that the entire field of astrology is based on the month and year that a person is born. They claim to be able to explain everything from the person’s future to their personality traits, by plotting which astrological sign the person’s birthday falls within.
Having lived through one hundred years of history and changes is reason enough for a major celebration. Invite everyone that knows the birthday boy or girl. Allow the guest of honor to take center stage as the entertainment. Have them talk about their life, and the things they have seen and done. Video tape them as they talk so the family can save it.
Decorate using things that are pertinent to the person and their history. Post family pictures up on poster boards. Include pictures of the guest of honor that represent them throughout their lifetime. Point out accomplishments such as college, military service and or occupations they held through life.
Keep the party going by serving heavy Hors D’oeuvres, canapés and other finger foods. Include some sweet desserts too. Go big on the cake and let it be the table centerpiece. Create a second gift table and assign someone to record gifts and givers to make thank you cards easier.
