Handmade 1st Birthday Party Favors

Firsts in life are always important occasions so make a child’s a 1st birthday a memorable one with homemade party favors, party supplies and decorations. There are many party favors but one party favor that will truly be a hit among children and parents is play dough. There are edible and non-edible play dough recipes that can be made from a few simple ingredients.

For a 1st birthday party, include a host of party favors as well as play dough such as cookies and candy bags for anyone who has a sweet tooth.

Play dough recipe
food coloring
2 tbsp cream of tartar
1 cup flour
1 cup water
½ cup salt
1 to 2 tbsp cooking oil
Mix flour, cream of tartar, salt in a pan with food coloring with water, add with oil to dry mixture. Cook over medium heat until thick.

Kool-Aid Play dough with Cream of Tartar (Nonedible)
This play dough recipe, if stored in an airtight container in the fridge, has a shelf life up to six months.
1 cup flour
1 package Kool-Aid mix (6 g pkg)
1 tbsp cooking oil
1 cup water
½ cup salt
2 to 3 tsp cream of tartar
Mix the dry ingredients together in a saucepan, add the water mixed with oil, and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens to dough. Let cool a few minutes and knead until smooth. Place the homemade play dough in plastic bags with a decorative ribbon and a fun party favor is made.
