A 30th birthday is not an occasion that stirs great anticipation in the hearts of many people; yet this occasion can be brightened by the addition of some homemade games.
Thirty Years of Greatness is a handmade game that can be enjoyed at any 30th birthday party. As a part of this game, guests could stand in a circle and pass around a ball or bean bag emblazoned with the number 30. As each person catches the ball, he/she can state a positive fact about the guest of honor. This could be a discussion of his/her positive achievements, special honors, family life, etc. No prizes need be awarded in this game; the smile on the guest of honor’s face will be reward enough in this sweet, meaningful game.
For those who are keen on getting prizes, however, they can play a homemade game that could be known as Thrifty Thirty. The host could set up a makeshift supermarket (one which includes a toy cash register and a selection of fun items, like candy, ice cream, soda, etc.) in the party area, asking guests to guess what each item cost 30 years ago. The person who comes closest to getting the correct answer wins the item in question. Others can win consolation prizes like $5 grocery gift cards and recyclable shopping bags.
Turning thirty can be fun--no really, it can be!; just be sure to include some homemade games in the party mix to ensure a great time for everyone.
