When the 4th of July comes around, you will be ready with your own homemade 4th of July piñata.
Your handmade 4th of July piñata will need to be red, white, and blue. You can form it into the shape of a flag, but piñatas are generally six-pointed, or round. The easiest way to make your homemade piñata is to use the form of a round balloon.
You will need several supplies to create your handmade 4th of July piñata. You will be creating a paper mache covering over your balloon, then it will be painted in red, white and blue. You will need newspaper, two cups of flour, and at least one cup of water, though you might need more. First, blow up the balloon, so that it is nice and round and firm. Mix the flour and water together until it becomes a pasty substance. Shred the newspaper and cover each strand with the paper mache paste. Start covering your balloon with the pasty newspaper strips all around, leaving a hole at the top. When it is completely covered, leave it a while to dry. When it’s dry, pop the balloon and carefully remove it from the inside of the piñata.
At this stage of your homemade 4th of July piñata, you can either paint it red, white and blue, or use colored crepe paper and glue on decorative strands all around it. Fill it with candy at the top, where you left the hole, and put a string through it at the top. Make sure the string is strong enough to hold the piñata and candy. Hang it from a tree or other spot, and let the fun begin!
