50s Sock Hop Party Invitations
Hand Designed 50s Sock Hop Invitations
Whether you are recalling your teen years with friends or celebrating an incredible period in history, few decades were as memorable as the 1950s. They make a great theme for a sock hop themed party. What better way to start the sock hop fun than with hand designed invitations? One fun idea is to cut two circles the same size, one out white card stock and the other out of black (black construction paper will also work). Make the circles about four inches in diameter. Tape them together at the middle edge on the left side, using black craft tape. Now, cut a small circle about one and a half inches in diameter and glue it to the center of the large black circle. Write the title to a hit song from the 1950’s in the small circle and you have an invitation that looks like an old 45 record. Next, write the sock hop info on the white circle and you are ready to rock.
Wondering What To Say in the Invitations
Use some 1950s slang in the invitations like “Hi Daddy O,
The cool cats are having a blast of a Sock Hop on Saturday, June 7th at 7pm at my pad, 635 Maple Lane. Every dolly and cat should come dressed like it’s the 1950s. I’m talking poodle skirts, ponytails, blue jeans, everything that was cool in the 50s.” Depending on their ages, some guests may call for a little translation, but it is all part of the fun.
When To Mail the Sock Hop Invitations
In a perfect world, you would send out invitations six to eight weeks ahead of the party, but in the real world usually three to four weeks is fine. This gives your guests time to check their schedule and send you a reply.
