Handmade 90s Party Favors

Smiley faces ruled the 90s and any handmade party favors with the 90s themed smiley face is a guaranteed success. Easy homemade party favors that will satisfy even the pickiest guest would be homemade sugar cookies iced with a smile!

Below is a simple sugar cookie recipe:

1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup butter, softened

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Stir together flour, baking powder and baking soda and set aside. Cream together sugar and butter until smooth, in a large bowl. Beat in the vanilla and egg. Slowly, blend in the dry ingredients.

When thoroughly blended, roll a teaspoon full ball and then place it on a greased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes until golden brown. Let set for about 2 minutes and then transfer to wire racks where they can cool off.

Once they are cooled, ice the top with yellow icing and then pipe around with black icing, make the two eyes and then the mouth.

Wrap the cookies in cellophane and then tie them with colored ribbon for a nice finishing touch. These homemade party favors will be loved by all the guests because they incorporate two of the best sweet treats – cupcakes and cookies! If looking to add a little more to the cupcakes, try sprinkles in many varieties and colors along with different colored icing besides black for the face and features.
