Alien's Fluffy Biscuits.For Anthony's party his theme was Alien's because he really enjoys playing with alien toys, it was a morning party at the nearest park, so I made a picnic party for him and his friends, the biscuits were just great everyone loved them tremendously.
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. baking powder
5 Tbsp. shortening(I use 1/2 vegetable shortening(solid) & 1/2 butter)
1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees(F). Sift dry ingredients. Then cut in butter
with pastry blender or use your hands. Make a well in the middle, pour in
buttermilk, and using a fork lightly mix until flour is moistened
thoroughly. On floured surface, knead 3 times. Pat dough out until 1/2
inch thick or thicker if you like. Cut into rounds with an inverted
drinking glass or a biscuit cutter. Set biscuits into a greased pan so
that their edges touch. Bake 12-15 minutes at 450 degrees.
I just could not believe how soft and so distinctive these biscuits were the first time I had a bite, they are really worth making, Enjoy

Alien MENU IDEAS |
|
Every boy loves a good alien and wants to venture into outer space. Why not throw an Alien party for him and his friends. Whether they love Star Trek, Star Wars or the average space alien experience an alien party just may be a perfect fit.
Start off this kids party with a great alien themed menu. Have a cake made to look like a spaceship and serve Asteroid Apples, Tazer Tacos, and Lightspeed Lemonade.
Allow each space crusader to create his or her own taco at the alien party. Make sure to have 2 lbs ground beef, 1 teaspoon Salt, 2 tablespoons Chili powder, 2 tablespoons Paprika, 1 teaspoon Cumin, 1 teaspoon Garlic powder or 2 cloves, 1/2 diced Bell pepper, 1/2 diced medium Onion, 12 corn tortillas. In 2 quart sauce pan add ground beef, salt, chili powder, garlic, cumin, paprika, enough water to cover meat. Bring to a boil. Simmer mixture over medium low heat about an hour. Then add 1/2 medium chopped onion, 1/2 medium chopped bell pepper. Continue cooking 20 or 30 more minutes. For soft beef tacos: Heat oil in skillet. Having corn tortillas cook one at a time, in hot oil until soft, about 10 to 15 seconds; drain. Spoon 2 Tablespoons of the beef taco meat in center of each tortilla. Fold tortilla over meat; or roll up like an enchilada.
Beam up the goods times at an alien party by serving this menu. Friend, or foe, the Martians and their hunters will make come together over this feast. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Alien theme party feeling. |
