Aloha Orange and Lime Terrine. Aloha Orange and Lime Terrine is the best according to everyone that has ever tried it. I had some last year and oh my god its so delicious try it and see how good it is.
zest of 3 limes 2 1/4 packets unflavored
4 1/2 cups freshly squeezed gelatin (1 packet for
orange juice 2 cups liquid)
2 2/3 cups freshly squeezed 3 oranges
lime juice 1 to 2 tablespoons Grand
1/2 cup powdered sugar Marnier
[confectioners' sugar] fresh mint
Preparation: 30 minutes. Cooking: 10 minutes.
With a grater, zest the limes before juicing them. Set aside. In a
saucepan, heat 2 1/4 cups of the orange juice, 2 1/4 cups of the lime
juice, and 1/4 cup of the powdered sugar. Add the gelatin to the
hot mixture, stirring until it is completely dissolved.
Peel the oranges and separate into sections. Remove the skin from
the orange sections and arrange them neatly in the bottom of a
9-by-6-by-3-inch terrine. Cover the orange sections with the
gelatin mixture, and place the container in the freezer just until the
gelatin begins to set. [Then place in the refrigerator to
continue the gelling process, I assume.]
Prepare the sauce by combining the rest of the orange juice, lime
juice, and sugar. Heat the mixture, stirring continuously, until it has
reduced by 1/2 and the sauce becomes thick. Allow to cool.
Lace the sauce with Grand Marnier to taste. Unmold the terrine
onto a serving dish, then cut the dessert into slices. Cover each slice
with the sauce; garnish with fresh mint and the lime zest. Serves
6 to 8.
This aloha Orange and Lime Terrine is my daughter and son's ultimate favorite they really like the orangey flavor and I am happy to make it for them each time they ask for some.

Aloha MENU IDEAS |
 |
While it may be the fiftieth state, Hawaii’s exotic beauty and fantastic weather make it number one in the hearts of millions of Americans every year. If you can’t jet off to Hawaii this year, consider throwing an Aloha party for family and friends. Aloha means “hello” and “goodbye” and so is a great party theme for big sendoffs and for parties to welcome friends and family back home. What does an Aloha party need? Why, an Aloha menu, of course.
As with any party, the choice of beverages for an Aloha or Good Luck menu is an important one. For the younger set, pineapple juice and fruit punch may be most appropriate. For your adult guests, try serving mixed drinks like Mai Tais or even a crisp pineapple wine. Ranging from sweet to semi-dry, these fruity white wines will give your guests something to talk about for days after the party. As an appetizer, try wrapping cubes of fresh cut pineapple in thin sliced ham. These can be skewered and grilled before guests arrive. As a main course, try a roast pork loin with cherry-pineapple glaze. Traditional poi is a great side dish. For dessert, cap off the Aloha menu with a classic pineapple upside down cake.
To make a cherry-pineapple glaze for your Aloha menu main course, start with a ten-ounce jar of maraschino cherries and a large can of crushed pineapple. Combine the juices from each and bring to a boil for approximately seven minutes. In another container, combine 1 tablespoon cornstarch with just enough orange juice to make a paste. Add this cornstarch/orange juice paste to the boiling juice mixture. Adjust thickness of glaze by adding more orange juice or cornstarch as necessary and your glaze is ready to use on a wonderful portion of roast pork.
While many may dream of a Hawaiian vacation, an Aloha menu at your next party can bring the islands home and create a sendoff or homecoming everyone will remember for years to come. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Aloha theme party feeling. |
