American Idol has a short but very rich history in the entertainment world. This reality television show has offered many opportunities to up and coming stars who would never have likely been seen or heard of otherwise. This show was created by Simon Fuller as an actual spin off of a similar British show known as Pop Idol.
There is no doubt this show will become a very famous one in television history. Since its debut on June 11th 2002 it has soared to the top of the charts of most watched shows and drawn millions of people into the action. Voters decide who the American Idol is in the end. This Television show has also become a national family pastime it seems, with many families using it as a family activity as so many age ranges seem to be drawn into the fold.
American idol even though so young already has a history that is known for discovering the best singer around. Singers perform and a panel of judges that include Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell as well as others who are there to critique the singers performances. Many levels of performers have made their way on and off of the American Idol stage.
Although this process can be painful and comical to watch, the judges are only there to offer instruction, in the end the people who watch the show are ultimately the ones who decide the true American Idol.
