If you want to make a handmade Baby Seuss pinata for your next gathering, you've come to the right place! The baby Seuss them is great for baby showers and young children's parties, and making a Baby Seuss pinata can be lots of fun. What a better way to add entertainment and fun to a celebration than to give the guests the chance to create something using their own craftsmanship or do another type of fun activity? Most hosts will find that this can be done many different ways depending on the age of the guests. For this reason, planning in advance will prove to be very beneficial to the planning of this event.

Since paper mache projects tend to be messy, cover your work area to keep stains and spills from ruining the floor and furniture. The supplies you will need for this project are:

Lots of newspaper strips (tear along the grain)
Liquid starch (or mix one part flour or glue with two parts water)
A large cookie tin or hatbox (for the mold)
Masking tape
Craft knife
Crepe paper in chosen colors

Remove the lid from the round mold and cover the opening with masking tape, so that the lid doesn't give the pinata an uneven shape. Dip a strip of newspaper into the liquid starch, remove the excess liquid, and smooth it flat onto the mold. Cover the entire mold with one layer of paper mache, making sure not to leave any gaps except for a candy hole at the top. Allow this to dry complete for a day or two. Then apply a second layer of paper mache, allowing this to dry as well.

When completely dry, it's time to remove the mold from the pinata. Take the craft knife and cut the pinata into two pieces. Carefully remove them both, remove the mold, then tape the two pieces of the pinata back together.

Take your favorite Baby Seuss graphic (One that fits on the front of the pinata), cut it out, and paste it on the front. Decorate the rest of the pinata with lengths of crepe paper. You can glue three or four long strips to either side of it for a more festive look.

Now you're all done! Just, poke some holes for the string, fill your pinata with your child's favorite candy and you're ready to go!
