Did you know there are some pretty cool facts about the history of Barbie? For instance, Barbie was actually given a full name. Her full name is Barbie Millicent Roberts. Additionally, Barbie was given a birth location and high school as well, those being Willows Wisconsin and Willows High School respectively. Barbie was also named after the daughter of the founder of giant Mattel, Elliot and Ruth Handler.
Barbie has a long and vast history as well. Additionally, their sons name is Ken. The first Barbie doll originally sold for just three dollars. But, the first Hispanic and black Barbie dolls were not sold until 1980. Barbie's very first job was as a teenage fashion model. She has however had many careers since then including an ice skater, an astronaut, rock star as well as many other careers in her long life.
An additional interesting logistical fact is that to date more than one hundred and five million yards of fabric have went into creating Barbie's wardrobe. This creation alone instantly makes Mattel one of the largest manufacturers of apparel as well. However, most of it is for Barbie herself, although some of it is allotted to her friends as well. If all of the Barbies created since 1959, including her friends, were placed head to toe, they would surpass the circumference of the earth over seven times. And last but not least, a very interested Barbie fact to the minute. In the world, every three single second, three Barbies are sold.
