In the early history of superheroes back in the late 1930's editors in the comic book profession requested that National Publications, which in the future would take on the moniker of DC Comics, create more superheroes. To respond to this request, an original creator made up 'The Bat Man," but this original draft of the Bat Man was quite rough. The character sported no gloves or gauntlets and wore what looked to be red shaded tights, and a jaunty addition of what resembled a domino mask. He had two fairly stiff and uncomfortable wings sticking out that were jagged as a bats wings.
A rarely known fact may be how Bill Finger, another creator, suggested giving this Bat Man a head cowl, instead of the mask effect and helped to devise the name of Bat Man himself. Bat Man's 'human' name was Bruce Wayne, this being named after Robert 'the Bruce', the Scottish Patriot.
History had also influenced various characteristics of the Bat Man's personality. Movies, comic strips and newspaper headlines and even aspects of the creator himself were intermingled in the Bat Man character. It was Kane who says he suggested that they remove the domino mask effect and make his head covering more like a hood, give him smaller slits for eyes such as bat would have and this would definitely increase the mysteriousness of the dark Bat Man. Although there may be a dispute about the original suggestions or origins of the idea of Bat Man, there is no dispute that his character has lasted an incredible amount of years.
