Beach Party Games

A beach party is only half the fun without homemade beach cookies for the gang. Orange cookies might be just the thing to top off the day at the beach with a delicious, fruity cookie dessert.

To make your homemade beach cookies, you will need 2/3 of a cup of shortening, 1 cups of sugar, 2 eggs, 3 cups of flour, 1 teaspoons of salt, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, the grated rind of two large oranges, and a tablespoon of orange juice. Just cream the shortening and sugar together, add the egg and continue creaming until it is light and foamy. Add the flour, salt, and baking powder to the mixture. Then add the orange rind and juice. Mix it all together until it is smooth.

Then you will need to chill your cookie dough for your homemade beach cookies for about an hour in the refrigerator. After the dough is chilled, then roll it out with a rolling pin to inch thickness on a slightly floured board. Cut the cookies out with a cookie cutter, and sprinkle them with baking sugar glitter. Bake in a moderate over at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. This recipe makes approximately 60 cookies.

If you have cookie cutters in the shape of seashells, seahorses, or fish, these would be the perfect cookie cutters for your homemade beach cookies. Anything that stays with the theme of the beach scene is appropriate and will add to the fun of your beach party.
