Handmade Beach Pinatas

Taking the birthday beach side is a great way for family and friends to enjoy sun, water, and a homemade beach theme piñata. There are many handmade beach theme piñatas that children will love smashing to pieces in hopes of receiving plenty of candy. Dolphins, tropical fish, palm trees, flowers, octopus, and the sun. Choose a piñata that is simple enough to make that reflects the beach theme.

Making a homemade octopus piñata is very simple. Begin the beach theme homemade piñata a few days before the party because the piñata should have time for it to completely dry. Give each layer of paper mache and paint one night to dry. Apply paper mache over an inflated balloon. Give the balloon at least three layers of paper mache. Before the final layers if applied, cut out a small hole, pop the balloons, and insert the candy and sealed closed with paper mache. Twist some newspaper and apply tape around them to form the tentacles. Secure the ends of the newspaper to the bottom of the octopus head with more tape. Have the tentacles bend in different ways avoiding any straight tentacles. Once every party of the octopus is applied, paint the octopus purple, pink, or desired color. Colored tissue paper can also be added where needed to the octopus. Punch a hole in the top of the octopus’s head and secure a piece of string for it to be hung.
