Think hearts and bows and ribbons and frills and high heels and garters and lip gloss!

Start planning for your Betty Boop with the color scheme the same way you would for all your other party supplies – with the color scheme. Obviously red has to be the dominant shade, being the color of most of her outfits and since its oozes the sexuality that she represents. Other colors that work well with the Betty Boop theme are white and pink. Use this in your frosting using motifs of hearts and rosettes for the decoration. Then top it off with a Betty Boop figurine reclining seductively on the top of the cake. Finish off by tying a red ribbon with white polka dots all round the edge of the cake and ending in a pretty bow.

A Betty Boop cake is as simple to make as that and the results are truly stunning!

You’ll be able to find plenty of Betty Boop party supplies to help make your party classic. Since Betty Boop was created during the black and white era of cartoons you can use this same monochromatic theme in your decorations. Make use of black streamers, white tablecloths, and of course grey balloons. Of course you’ll probably be able to find some Betty Boop themed paper supplies, such as tablecloths so look for those before you move to using the monochromatic theme.

The kids will love it if you manage to find some Betty Boop themed party favors like stickers, pencils and temporary tattoos, but you can also look into some more unusual items like fun feather boas, glittered hats and sunglasses.

To entertain everybody play some Betty Boop cartoons in the background and start up a fun card game. After all Betty came from the era of guys and dolls. You can make this age appropriate by playing something simple like Go Fish or Rummy and then give prizes to the winning teams. Prizes can be anything but I suggest some candy. They are easy to play with and the individually wrapped pieces make good betting chips for the kids to use.

Add a little extra decorative accent to the party by bringing in some fun inflatable instruments. Some of the earlier Betty Boop cartoons were mostly covered with music so you can use inflatable guitars and simple drums and tambourines in the party area to get that element of the Betty Boop cartoon into play. You can even find mini tambourines and maracas to give to the kids as party favors if you like. Follow these suggestions and you are sure to have a great Betty Boop themed party for the kids. Go ahead and get planning!

Betty Boop History, Facts and Educational Resources

Betty Boop has a long history that began over 80 years ago in 1930 when Max Fleischer, as well as some assistance from Grim Natwick and others created her. Although she made her first appearance in the Talkartoon and Betty Boop series of films, she was also readily featured in her own comic strip as well as mass market merchandising. In such sexually repressed times Betty offered sex appeal to those who enjoyed her films. However, in the mid thirties creators gave her a 'tone down' to make sure she appeared demure enough for their opinions of women in their time.

Most people are amazed at the history behind many of the shows from the present and past. Like others before them the times of past and the recordings are often as interesting now as they were many years ago. For this reason, fans of the show have held strong and their popularity has continued to grow. The history of Betty Boop shows that she was originally designed after Clara Bow, who was an It Girl of their time and had sweet, girlish baby doll looks. Max Fleischer finally gave Betty Boop a human form in the 1932 cartoon known as Any Rags. She had the character of a flapper girl with way more heart then she had brains. This gave Betty Boop her signature innocent, perhaps ignorant attitude and whimsical character.

Bettys voice has a history of its own. The first person to perform her voice was Margie Hines, to be followed up in later years by a series of different actresses such as Kate Wright, Bonnie Poe and likely the most notable in Mae Questel. She took on the role of Betty Boops voice in 1931 and continued in that role until her death in 1998. Get creative by using poster board and LED lights to make your own light up banner or message. If your special occasion for the kids includes face painting be sure to check with their parent first. Get creative by using poster board and LED lights to make your own light up banner or message. The history of Betty Boop has different interpretations by each person, so use your own judgement. Share these facts with friends at a celebration.
