Betty Boop is a character much beloved among people of all ages; and, as all Betty Boop parties should be as colorful and comical as Betty herself, they had better include some splashy homemade piñatas.
Handmade Betty Boop piñatas could take the form of Betty’s massive head; which, in its beauty, character and oversized proportions, should lend itself to the creation of a perfect paper mache piñata. The host even could venture to create a full-scale likeness of Betty, complete with her famous pout and a colorful party dress.
Alternately, the host could create a round or square (perhaps a box-like frame that likens a television or movie screen) homemade piñata that shows an artsy black and white image of Betty’s face. This picture also include Pudgy, her adorable little white dog.
Other handmade Betty Boop piñatas could take the form of symbols associated with the jazzy decade of the 1930s, the time in which Betty was ‘born.’ These could include the paper mache likenesses of saxophones, bubbly bottles (marked nonalcoholic, at least if it’s a kid’s or senior party), oversized diamond rings, champagne or bath tub bubbles, etc.
Other party supplies at a Betty Boop festivity should continue and enhance these themes of glamour and nostalgia. Party colors should be sleek and splendorous, with golds, silvers, ivories and ebonies expressing themselves through ribbons, streamers, and banners in fabrics like silk, satin and foil. A likeness of a lush bubbly glass, with Betty poised on the edge, would make an eye-catching centerpiece at the party table.
