The television show Blue's Clues has a history of research in early child development. This show first aired on September 8, 1996 and continues to run today. However new productions of this series did cease in 2006. Additionally, versions of this show have been produced in many other countries due to the educational value it provides to an audience that isn't known for long attention spans. Blue's Clues can keep just about any pre-school aged child glued to the television while actually learning.
Even with its relatively short history it has been called one of the most acclaimed and groundbreaking series for the preschool age group. The creators used concepts they had learned from child development and early childhood education research.
They devoted the time and energy to learning what could grab the attention and much more important, hold it, for this age group of children.
An interesting Blue's Clues fact shows that this series has been seen in over 60 different countries. This has given children all over the world the benefit of learning from the very effective research and development team at Nickelodeon who invested the time and energy into this very important educational project. This was no small investment in any way but the rewards by far surpassed the risk.
With many resources at their disposal they managed to bring forth a lasting educational idea that has helped to shape the vocabulary and understanding to many children before they even had to begin school.
