For a christening, an elegant homemade christening cookie would be lace wafers. Try this recipe to bake 60 delicious, lacey wafers for your guests. They are sure to ask for more.
The recipe is not difficult for your homemade christening cookies. You will need just a few ingredients. They are 2 tablespoons of shortening, one cup of sugar, two eggs, ½ teaspoon of sale, ½ teaspoon of nutmeg, 2 ½ cups of rolled oats, 2 ½ teaspoons of baking powder, one teaspoon of vanilla, and ¼ teaspoon of almond extract. Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs together until the mixture is light and fluffy. The combine the salt, nutmeg, rolled oats, and the baking powder together, and add it to the creamed mixture. Mix everything together thoroughly. Then add the vanilla extract, and fold it in well. The consistency of the dough should be such that it can be dropped onto a cookie sheet without spreading. It should be rather firm. Add more rolled oats, if necessary.
To bake your homemade christening cookies, you will drop the dough by teaspoons onto a greased baking pan. Instead of a greased pan, you may line the pan with parchment paper, and the cookies won’t stick. Then bake the cookies in a moderate oven of 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. The cookies should give a lacey effect around the edges, making the perfect elegant cookie for a christening. Sprinkle the tops while they are still warm with baking sugar glitter. Pink might be nice for a girl, or blue for a boy.
