Keeping a round decoration in mind, like a snowflake, or a Christmas ball ornament will make your homemade Christmas piñata easier to create. You will need some flour, water, newspaper, paint, crepe paper, glue, glitter, and a round balloon.
To begin your handmade Christmas piñata project, blow up the balloon until it is firm and round. Mix the flour and water together, adding more or less of either ingredient, until it is a pasty consistency. Place shreds of newspaper into the paste and cover the shreds. These shreds will be placed onto the balloon until the balloon is completely covered, leaving a hole at the top to put in the candy. When it dries, pop the balloon and gently remove it from the inside of the piñata.
Now you’ll need to decorate your homemade Christmas piñata. If you have chosen the snowflake as your piñata, just paint it white, and glue on white crepe paper shreds to it for texture, and to have something blowing in the wind as it hangs. You can also add glitter to make your snowflake look shiny. Add the candy, and hang it from a hefty string or thin rope. If you have chosen the Christmas ornament design, this can be painted any color, and be sure to add the glitter for that shiny effect. Shreds of colored crepe paper can add depth to the design. Then hang it high and watch the kids try to knock it down, eager with anticipation of what is inside of it!
