Handmade Cinco de Mayo Pinatas

Your handmade Cinco de Mayo piñata will need to be vibrant in color and exciting in design. They’re easy to make, and the decorations will be up to you.

A balloon will start off your homemade Cinco de Mayo piñata, blown up big and full and round. You will need to cover the balloon with paper mache that you create yourself. Just take some flour and water, and mix them together until it becomes a pasty consistency. Newspaper shreddings are next. These will be submerged into the paste and covered with it. Then apply the shreds to the balloon, until it’s covered. Leave a hole at the top to put in the candy. When the paste dries, it’s time to pop the balloon and carefully remove it from the inside.

Your creativity now comes in handy when it’s time to decorate your homemade Cinco de Mayo piñata. Paint it is exciting bright colors. Add the Mexican flag to your design. You might just use the colors of the flag by adding colored crepe paper shreds. When you are done, just place some candy, toys and other fun things into the top of the it. Use a string that can handle the weight of the piñata, and attach the string to it, either with glue, staples, or a type of crafting needle. Then hang it from a high branch on a tree, or from the ceiling inside, depending on where the party is taking place, and watch the kids knock at it in turn, awaiting the explosion of candy and goodies.
