Handmade Class Reunion Pinatas

A homemade piñata is suitable for just about any celebration such as birthday party, bachelorette party, anniversary party etc. The piñata is especially fun for children in attendance because what child does not like to hit a piñata for candy. Homemade piñatas are simple enough to make so anyone who has time, some patience, and the proper materials can make a piñata of their choosing.

For a class reunion homemade a star or multiple tiered piñata with school colors and class year. A multi-tiered cake can be made with cardboard, cut in a 2 ½ - 3 foot length strip. Attach the strip of cardboard with tape and cut out circle cardboard to fit the strip and tape. Apply the paper mache over the cardboard and do the same for smaller layers that will be placed on the largest bottom layer. Use paper mache to attach all the layers. Make a small opening on the side of bottom of the piñata to insert the candy and apply paper over it. This can also be done beforehand when the cardboard strip and circle are applied. Once the entire cake piñata is paper mached, let dry, and begin decorating it with tissue paper. Cut out the school name and year with craft paper and paste on the piñata cake. For added decoration, fasten ribbons on the bottom of the cake. There is no wrong way to decorate a cake piñata so use festive colored tissue paper as well.
