Homemade
Cocktail Costume
Combining cocktail and costume parties together can be a great way for cocktail connoisseurs to have a good time dressed up in a nice costume, maybe one that’s even homemade. The idea of a costume and cocktail party isn’t new, though. In fact, many people look at the opportunity to come up with some sort of theme for a costume party when the idea of getting together to enjoy modern day and classic cocktails, and maybe even a few cigar types playboy costumes.
The first thing they’ll need to be done, of course, is deciding on whether a cocktail costume party is going to have a modern theme or one that’s more classic, such as something from the 1950s poople costume or the early 1960s, when cocktails and parties were in their heyday. A 50s-themed party, complete with a homemade costume worn by the attendees, is always a great way to go. Many people, when needing an idea for such a costume, need only watch the iconic cable television channel “TV Land,” or even the movie “Pleasantville” for ideas of the kind of dress that would be worn at such a costume party.
Making up a homemade costume, when the theme is from one of those two decades (the 50s or the 60s) is as easy as looking at one’s closet or checking out the clothing that’s probably still possessed by a grandparent or even a parent, depending on how old the person attending cocktail party will be. There are also numerous clothing items from that era that can be found fairly easily at discount thrift clothing stores and the like, so keep that in mind as well.
