Homemade Columbus Day Party Game

In honor of Columbus Day, encourage children to participate in discovery games of their own – who knows what the little explorer will uncover. Hide various item such as toys, candies, coloring books, and other wonderful treasures children will enjoy around the house, front and back yard.

Printable homemade Columbus Day games are also a fun way to spend Columbus Day. Print out several pictures of Columbus, his ships, and cut the pictures in different shapes and sizes. Use a puzzle pattern to make more complicated shapes as well. Once the Columbus images are cut, have the children pieces Columbus back together again.

Race Around the World is a fun Columbus Day game in which players make small ships (from foam blocks, toothpicks, and paper sails) and race around a small pool by blowing on the ships. Decorate the ships as desired but the more decorative elements the slower the ship might be as well. On go, players attempt to blow the ships to the end of the pool and back.

We all know the high seas were rough to sail so give party guests a sense of what the Atlantic Ocean was like in this Columbus Day game. Use a long wooden board on cinder blocks. The object of the game is to stay walk across the wooden board while other players throw water balloons at the player on the board. The seas were a rough place to navigate with brutal sun and harsh winds so do not make life easy for those traveling.
