The Congratulations Party is perhaps the ultimate expression of good wishes and unbridled appreciation.
Although these festivities can be hosted to honor any number of great accomplishments, they share between them a sense of camaraderie and genuine good will.
Though it’s difficult to trace the first Congratulations Party, it’s a fact that many prehistoric tribes celebrated their battle victories with outdoor parties that honored the captains and heroes behind the victories; thus congratulating them in their bravery and battle savvy.
Throughout the centuries, congratulations parties have honored everyone from war heroes returning home to business professionals who have scored big deals or major monetary raises, parents who have just brought home their first baby to people who have just won the lottery or landed a big job or political office.
The emotions behind these parties remain the same throughout the years. The host and guests want to express their support and appreciation of the guest of honor, while also expressing their great admiration of the guest of honor’s accomplishment.
The accomplishments themselves, however, have evolved over time.
In olden days a guest might warrant a congratulations party for earning a dollar an hour raise at work; today he/she might be honored for scoring a million dollar merger.
At one point an author might be congratulated for publishing a book; today that publication might take the form of an e-book, an audio book, or a filmed version of that book.
