Homemade
Corporate Costume
Corporate costumes for a theme party can be as varied as the kind of corporations that exist nowadays. A simple and easy homemade costume to come up with is, of course, the fabled computer nerd or geek. All that’s needed is a pair of black pants, a white short-sleeved shirt, a pocket protector (with mechanical pencils and a pocket calculator stored within) and a pair of black-framed glasses. Of course, there are other kinds of corporate costume ideas that are easy enough to create, as well.
For example, a corporate attorney only requires a decent suit (go to a thrift store and pick one up for about $5 to $10) and a cheap briefcase along with a fake, plastic cell phone or PDA. If needed, don a pair of costume spectacles and everything’s ready to go. In keeping with the nature of this sort of homemade costume, just go around the party handing out subpoenas or other legal documents. Or, bring a tiny toy ambulance, push it around on the floor and start chasing it to add to humor of the costume!
Corporations or businesses also hold costume parties and allow the members of that corporation to come in any sort of costume they’d like, within the bounds of good taste, of course. In that case, raid a closet or thrift store for something that can be really kitschy or avant-garde, even and go as some sort of historic figure or even a latter-day Beat poet, for example. Perhaps a fake beard, a ratty sweater and a fishing pole and a sign that says the wearer of the sweater is Ernest Hemingway, in the process of writing “The Old Man and the Sea,” might be a bit humorous with a bowling pin costume. Let your imagination run wild, in other words.
