Handmade Daytona 500 Pinatas

Daytona 500 is the biggest and most prestigious NASCAR race so celebrate properly with party supplies such as a homemade Daytona 500 piñata. While the adults in attendance might focus on the race, ensure the children are entertained during the great American race. Form the shape of the NASCAR car with several long and round shaped balloons. Use tape to hold the balloons together along with cardboard for the back and front windshield or where needed. Apply 3 layers of paper mache and let dry over night each layer. After the second layer, cut out small holes and place the candy inside. Once the candy is inserted apply paper mache over the holes. Candy does not have to be one section of the NASCAR car but anywhere i.e. tires. Many piñata can hold between 2-3lbs. of candy so be sure not to overload the piñata. To hang the piñata, tape a coat hanger (cut by a wire hanger) to the top of the NASCAR car. Apply another layer of paper mache.

Now that the last paper mache layer is applied, the decorating can begin. NASCAR cars are brightly decorated with decals and large numbers on the side so choose a favorite driver or create one. Use tissue paper and apply starting from the bottom to the top. Use a glue stick to apply the tissue paper and let dry for at least one night. Painting the NASCAR piñata is also an option.
