Your birthday boy loves Disney's cars, so a Disney's Cars handmade pinata would be right up his alley. Making this pinata is a fun project, and your kids can even participate. What a better way to add entertainment and fun to a celebration than to give the guests the chance to create something using their own craftsmanship or do another type of fun activity? Most hosts will find that this can be done many different ways depending on the age of the guests. For this reason, planning in advance will prove to be very beneficial to the planning of this event.

You'll need the following to make your pinata:

Several newspaper strips
Water
Flour
A round form such as a cookie tin
Masking tape
roll(s) of ribbon in chosen colors
Craft knife
Scissors
Craft glue

To begin, mix two parts water with one part flour. Dip a piece of newspaper into the mixture and drain off the excess liquid. Lay the strip flat on the mold and smooth it out. Dip another piece of newspaper into the mixture, remove the excess, and smooth it next to the first strip. Repeat this until you've covered the mold in a layer of paper mache (This can get messy, so be sure to cover your work area). Be sure to leave a candy hole at the top. Allow the layer to dry overnight or up to 24 hours.

When this layer is dry, apply a second layer and allow this to dry as well. Afterward it's time to remove the mold. Using the craft knife, cut the paper mache into two equal pieces. Remove the mold and then tape the two pieces back together with masking tape

Next, go online and and print out a picture of Disney's Cars big enough to cover the front of the mold. Alternately, you can use a Disney's Cars deflated mylar balloon as well. Glue the image or balloon to the front of the pinata. Then decorate the rest of it with strips of ribbon. Use the scissors to curl the ribbon for a more decorative effect.

After you're done, poke four holes in the top of the pinata and string some yarn through to string up the pinata. Fill it with candy, and you're ready to go!
