Dora the Explorer and her Spaghetti
Lola my neighbor invited me to her daughters baptism, this celebration was truly special and will always be remembered, she prepared a menu that was truly exquisite but the dish that caught my attention and appetite was the Spaghetti Putanesca here is how it was done, enjoy:
1/3 cup olive oil
9 anchovies
8 whole garlic cloves
1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
4 medium ripe tomatoes, chopped and seeded
(enough to make 3 cups of tomatoes) or
one 28-ounce can tomatoes, chopped, w/juice
12 Calmata olives, pitted and halved
2 teaspoons capers, drained
5 garlic cloves, chopped
1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
1/2 to 3/4 pound fresh pasta
Chopped fresh parsley
Heat the oil in a saute' pan or skillet. Add the anchovies and whole garlic cloves. Cook until the garlic cloves brown and the anchovies fall apart. Add the red pepper flakes and cook a few seconds more. Add the tomatoes, olives, and capers. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add the chopped garlic, parsley, and basil to the sauce and simmer a bit longer.
Cook the fresh pasta in plenty of boiling salted water for 2 to 3 minutes or until 'al dente.' Toss with half of the sauce until well coated. Arrange the pasta on a platter and pour the remaining sauce on top. Sprinkle the chopped parsley over all. Serves 4."
This dish can be combined with just anything that is why it became my favorite, I change the ingredients here and there and it's always a hit no matter what. It works for every special event try it and perhaps maybe change a thing or to each time you make it. Have fun. A menu with party recipes using Dora the Explorer party supplies is perfect to stick to your party theme. Sprinkle the event with a fabulous Finding Nemo recipe for more scrumptious food.

Dora the Explorer GAMES &
Activities

| FROM 1 TO 5: You'll need plastic balls (different in size) and 2 plastic hockey sticks. Two teams (5 players in each one) compete in this game. The first players of the teams must pass one ball each with the help of the stick to the finish-line. At the finish line there stands a chair. The player must pass the ball round it and return back to his team with the ball. The second player of each team passes 2 plastic balls, the third - 3, the fourth - 4, the fifth - 5. It's very difficult, but amazing. The team which manages to pass the greatest number of balls wins the game. Lots more

Dora the Explorer MENU IDEAS |
 |
If you have need of a party for a group of youngsters who are obsessed with going outside and searching every party of the yard or even city, then you most certainly should consider a Dora the Explorer theme. The title says it all; it’s a series that focuses on exploring in between showing kids various morals of day to day life. Shovels, hard hats, kakis, rope, lanterns, and anything else that you can think of that has to do with exploring such as boots and tents, can all be used a props for this theme. As for the background, you might be able to obtain exotic wall scrolls such as forest, cave, or desert scenery if you look around.
Your Dora the Explorer party can be a brunch of fruity treats for the kids. Serve up a cornucopia of unique and interesting whole fruits from the tropics in a bowl. These can be bananas, mango, cocoanut, passion fruit, oranges, lemons, limes, and even yams. If you can get enough mangos for everyone at the party, try getting them early enough so that they are almost too ripe to eat. The mango is a very juicy fruit and it’s said that you can literally cut a hole in the skin and use a straw to suck out the mango juice when its overripe. This might be a fun activity to try with the kids at your Dora the Explorer party. In addition to whatever main course you decide on try serving up some Marshmallowed Yams as a sweet side dish.
Marshmallowed Yams are great for the Dora the Explorer kids party since they are a fruit from a jungle climate and they are also good for other holidays like Thanksgiving. Get a can of cooked yams and pour into a casserole dish. Add to this a mixture of the juice from the can, corn syrup and some crushed mint leaves or mint flavoring. On top place an even layer of marshmallows. Put into the oven at 350 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes. This is a mushy and fun treat for your Dora the Explorer party.
As with any party, you should be well prepared to deal with the mess, and one of the biggest time savers is of course paper products. Plates, cups, napkins, even disposable table covers can all be used to minimize the amount of time spent cleaning up after a party has ended. Make sure not to neglect these most useful of time savers. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Dora the Explorer theme party feeling. |
