Election Day Parties Are Fun And Care Free
They are the time when people who have worked hard at an election, or even those that have anxiously been waiting, will have a chance to sit back and relax. During this time, finger foods and appetizers steal the show. Below is an easy recipe that can be made in 2 ˝ hours and is very colorful.
What You Will Need:
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup diced celery
4 (12 inch) flour tortillas
1 (2 ounce) can sliced black olives
1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
2 green onions, minced
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (1 ounce) package ranch dressing mix
This recipe is very easy and really is only about combining items and sticking it in the fridge.
First, with in a medium sized mixing bowl, you will want to combine the following: ranch dressing, green onions and the cream cheese. Make sure the cream cheese has softened or it will not turn out the same. Take each tortilla and spread this combined mixture onto them. Sprinkle the celery, cheese, black olives and red pepper over the spread you just put down on the tortillas.
Next, tightly roll up the tortillas and then wrap it with a piece of aluminum foil. Let them set in a refrigerator at least 2 hours before you take them out, unwrap them and cut off the ends. After you cut off the ends, you will then cut one inch in and create mini circles as you cut.

Political Charades:
As you gather around the television set seeping in on the election updates, get some life into your Election Day Party by playing a game of charades – but with a twist. Chart out some politics related categories like Political Personalities, Patriotic Movies, Patriotic songs… you get the idea! Anything red, white and blue! Now divide the team in two groups and each time a player steps up from a team have them randomly select a category. Then have the opposing team give them a word or phrase to act out to his team. The standard rules apply beyond this point. This game promises to be a lot of fun while keeping with the flavor of the party.

Election Day MENU IDEAS |

Having an Election Day party theme? Get a party pack of patriotic invitations and paper goods in red, white, and blue. Or send out homemade invitations resembling a ballot. If they present the invitation to you upon arrival, hand them an “I Voted” sticker. They might dress up as their favorite candidate, or as their favorite president, First Lady, or First Family member.
Go to your local party goods store and look for donkeys, elephants, Uncle Sams, and flags for party decorations. Buy some Election Day hats and buttons to give out and fashion a campaign podium out of a large box. Create a voting booth, complete with a curtain. Find old campaign slogans online and print out as banners, or make banners for an actual, current campaign.
Logical food choices at an Election Day party theme would include red, white, and blue foods; e.g., strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, and patriotic-themed goodies. “All-American” picnic foods, such as hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni and potato salads, and apple pie are easy crowd-pleasers. Keep it a simple, buffet-style affair so party guests may nosh as they please.
For fun, make up your own measures and laws to vote on. Have you always wanted to outlaw yappy dogs, messy trees, or the letter “M?” Write it on the ballot and take a vote! And why not give the budding politicians a chance to speak at your podium? You will be certain to get some wacky campaign speeches and a good time! By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Election Day theme party feeling. |
