THEME RECIPE

Elmo's Green Soup
Each festivity needs to be unique and fun, therefore making this green soup works great for that special event, I made it at Tony's Elmo party and I ran out I had to make more since the kids just loved it, its great because you can add just anything to it chicken, vegetables or even tortillas, play with this recipe and enjoy the warmness and delicious taste.
Serves 4-6.
Ingredients

1 onion
1 T olive oil
1 T flour
2.5 cups chicken stock (home-made is best :-)
2 large lettuces - use only the greenest leaves
1 bunch spinach
2 small bunches of watercress
1 cup scalded milk
2-3 T cream
Freshly ground pepper
Bunch Parsley - finely chopped
Method

Wash and tear up lettuce, spinach, and watercress leaves.
Saute onion in olive oil until soft in large pan. Then stir into flour, and cook for 1 minute.
Add stock and bring to boil, stirring regularly.
Add leaves, reduce heat, and simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
Remove from heat, and allow to cool. When cool, place in blender, and puree.
Return puree to pan, add scalded milk and cook until heated through. Add freshly ground pepper.
If serving hot, transfer soup into bowls, place a dob of cream in the soup, and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
I prefer it without cream when serving cold.
Tony's birthday party was on a very cold evening I did not know what to make the children for dinner, so my mother in law introduced me to this wonderful recipe and it has remained in dinner table quite often.

Elmo MENU IDEAS |
|
Elmo is one of the most popular sesame street characters of all time. Maybe you remember the tickle me Elmo craze with some people reselling their pre-bought Elmo’s for a huge mark up just before Christmas. Still, it’s not really that bad, as it showed just how good the products were. So now you need to throw an Elmo themed kids party. Well, luckily it’s pretty easy to do, first of all the color of choice is red the same as Elmo. Then, some Sesame Street decorations such as the street sign, big bird and others, with Elmo being the main focus. You may also find some interesting ideas for the menu of your party.
An Elmo party menu will be oh so tasty if you plan it out just right before hand. Start everyone off with some yummy Elmo Sugar Cookies with furry frosting! Just make up regular frosting, add some red food coloring and plenty of shredded cocoanut to it for that furry monster look. Since Sesame Street is all about learning mix up some Alphabet soup for your Elmo fans to slurp up at the party. On the side have a zesty Stromboli, Elmo style. You’ll find that it disappears faster than the cookies.
Stromboli for your Elmo party menu is quick and easy. Follow any white bread recipe you wish, and while you’re at it mix in a few drops of red food coloring. Roll out the dough and lightly butter or grease it. Place a thick layer of your favorite Italian meats and cheeses like Provolone, Mozzerella, Pepperoni, and Ham on the rolled out dough. Roll it back up and place on a lightly greased pan. Lightly grease the outside of the Stromboli and place in the oven at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
One of the things they don’t teach on Sesame Street is to use paper plates, napkins, and plastic utensils, but nonetheless you should make sure to stock up on plenty of them. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Elmo theme party feeling. |
