Elvis is a living legend and having an Elvis Party will include a menu of Musical Fun. Elvis may be dead but he is not gone or forgotten. He is alive through his music and still living amongst all of us. His number of fans is increasing each year. His Rock and Roll songs and dance style are something that truly make his fans go crazy for him. There are a lot of different people commenting on how his downfall started. Some say that it was his getting into the habit of using drugs and alcohol that made him decline at a very fast pace, but when if one looks a little bit further it was found that his eating habits were truly unhealthy.
During Elvis's era, people were not so aware of the concept of a healthy diet and healthy eating habits. To bring home this point, let's look what Elvis was eating at his different meals throughout the day. At breakfast he used to have six large eggs cooked in butter with extra salt, one pound of bacon and a half pound of sausages and 12 buttermilk biscuits. At dinner he used to have two Fool’s Gold sandwiches with a jar of peanut butter and a jar of strawberry jam, as well as one pound of crisp fried bacon on a baguette, these were double sized servings of the entire dinner menu.
At supper Elvis had five double hamburgers and deep fried peanut butter and mashed banana sandwiches that he loved. He also used to have different snacks between the meal times. It is interesting to know that at breakfast he used to have about 5000 calories of food and at dinner he had about 84,000 calories of food and at supper about another 5000 calories. All these figures combine to about 94,000 calories in total. This diet with such a high calorie count caused his death at such an early age along with alcohol and drugs. We should learn from him that we need to be aware of what we eat, what we do to ourselves and that way we can prevent ourselves from getting into the serious medical problems that Elvis experienced. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Elvis theme party feeling. |
