Father’s Day is enjoyed by kids and their fathers alike, so the conversation should be about sharing quality time with dad. Past Father’s Days could definitely come up in the conversation. But everyday memories between father and daughter and son and daughter can also lead to a good talk.
On Father’s Day it’s important to talk about memories. Think of that time you and dad went fishing many years ago. That should stir up other memories, as well. Simple times together of attending church, or going to neighbors’ barbeques, or having out of town relatives over, are all great things to talk about. They are bound to have happy stories attached, and maybe some annoying ones that you can laugh aloud about now. In fact, there are probably many little annoyances that can now be laughed about.
The time with dad is special, on Father’s Day and always, so share some great conversations with dad. They can be about politics, religion, the economy, or anything else that you might or might not agreed upon. The important thing is to talk about things, because these times will not last forever.
On Father’s Day your gift might be something that may be talked about for a long time. A silly tie would do that. But you might also want to buy him something special, for him to cherish, like a gold coin. That would certainly get some conversation going about the economy, and also what kind of vacation he can take when he cashes it in.
