Flag Day is about the American flag, so talk about the stars and stripes and what they mean. Betsy Ross is sure to find her way into the conversation, as she made one of the most famous of these flags.

If children are present at this Flag Day gathering, they might have just been taught about Flag Day in school, so ask them questions. They will be thrilled to show just what they have learned. And they will love thinking that they’re smarter than you are.

Talk about the décor would also be appropriate for Flag Day, as there will no doubt be plenty of flags displayed. The red, white, and blue theme may carry into the kitchen and buffet area. You should always compliment the host and hostess for the great job they have done getting the party together for their guests. They went to a lot of trouble to create the atmosphere of the holiday, so they should be commended. Lending a helping hand also never hurts, especially if they are running around trying to put the plates out for a meal or appetizer. Let them know what a great job they are doing, and ask if they need any help doing it.

Flag Day brings back memories of when our flag still stood proudly, even in spite of terrorism, like on 9/11. “And our flag was still there” cries out every time we are in danger of war or terrorism happening in our own back yard. We are a proud people, and pride should be taken when speaking of our very precious country on Flag Day.
