COOKIES

Football fans just love all types of goodies while they watch the game, so serve them up some homemade football theme cookies, and they’ll love you for it!
Here’s a simple recipe using only almond paste, sugar, egg whites, and food coloring. You need one roll, or 7 ounces of almond paste, broken into pieces, ½ cup of granulated sugar, ¼ cup of egg whites, and red and yellow food coloring to make the color orange, like a football. Place a rack in the middle of the oven, and preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease and flour a cookie sheet. Then blend all the ingredients, except the food coloring, together. Whip it all with an electric mixer until it is smooth, about two minutes at medium speed. Then mix in the food coloring, making the batch an orangey color.
Now is where your creativity comes in for your homemade football cookies. Drop the cookies onto the baking sheet, using two teaspoons, and shape them into footballs. Leave some room between them for expansion. Bake the cookies for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges. Let them cool before removing them from the pan. You can use a toothpick to make your football cookies look more authentic by pricking them all around. And if you want to add a white frosting string to the football, that will make it look more like a football, as well. Place these fake little pigskins in a bowl, and watch them disappear! |
