If you are throwing a party based on a golden oldies theme, then you are probably looking for a couple of crafts to do to get everyone into the theme. If you have chosen not to require period costumes to be worn to the party, there are a couple of things you can do. Organize a poodle skirt contest for the men to judge, and let the women compete. You will need a large quantity of felt. It would help if the felt was cut into circles to begin with. Colors should vary. Have things like ric rac, colored seam tape, sequins, cotton balls, paint pens, glitter, and several bottles of fabric glue, etc. as well as several pairs of scissors. Each competitor can cut a circle large enough to fit when pulled onto their waists. They can decorate the skirts, and the winner takes the prize in this golden oldies inspired craft.

If you are having a golden oldies party for adult friends, you might want to try this craft idea. Purchase old albums or 45s from thrift stores, garage sales, or flea markets. It is a good idea if it is music from the time period of your party, but that really does not matter. Using cookie sheets and oven safe bowls, place upside down bowls on the cookie sheets, lie the album on top of the bowl, and place it in an oven set on warm. As the record heats, it will take on the form of the bowl.
