Green Lantern Costume

A great idea to top off a handmade Green Lantern costume would be to include a glow stick. These can be found year round, as they also double as a safety feature for bike riders at night and even people walking, as they glow in the dark. Or, for a more scary costume, you might try a Medusa costume.

Start off with basic black. A leotard or legging will suffice for the bottom part of the costume. Black sneakers can be worn on top of the leotard or inside it. A black long-sleeved tee is perfect for the top part of this homemade Green Lantern costume. Or, try a Hercules costume, as another option. And to be more elaborate, for the Green Lantern try black or green cuffs that can be made from soft vinyl. Just add Velcro to both sides of the cuffs to place over the wrists.

Now for the innovative part. A see-through type material will be used as a vest. It can be made of nylon, or any other light-weight, sort of transparent fabric. And it can be black or green. It will need a kind of holder for the glow stick at the chest. You may want to use more than one glow stick for effect, depending on how strong they are. Place the glow sticks inside the chest part of the costume, and the force of this Green Lantern superhero will be felt.

The mask is simple, too. A strip of black or green material, perhaps leftover vinyl from the cuffs, will have cut out portions for the eyes. It can be placed on the face by using thick elastic thread that holds both sides of the mask. Make sure it is comfortable and not too tight, and that you can see clearly out of it.
