Gymnastics COOKIES

A gymnastics party wouldn’t be complete without homemade gymnastics theme cookies. Light as a feather might be the slogan for these fabulous, delicious meringues for your gym crowd.

For your homemade gymnastics theme cookies, you will need 6 egg whites at room temperature. Also, you will need 1/8 of a teaspoon of cream of tartar, 2 cups of sugar, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, and one tablespoon of white vinegar. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees. Then grease two baking sheets.

To continue to prepare your homemade gymnastics theme cookies, beat the egg whites until they are foamy with an electric mixer. Add the cream of tartar and keep beating them until the egg whites are stiff. Then gradually add the sugar, beating a bit of the mixture at a time. Add the vanilla and vinegar, and beat the whites until they are very stiff and shiny. This might take 10 minutes more.

To make eight large meringues for your homemade gymnastics theme cookie, place about one-half cup of the meringue on one of the prepared baking sheets. Pull the meringue into a peak shape, resembling a large Hershey’s kiss, with your hands. Then smooth the sides. Do this with the remaining meringue, making about seven more. Then bake the large kiss-shaped meringues for about 45 minutes.

If these homemade gymnastics theme cookies are too large, or your gymnastics crowd has more than eight members, just do a variation making the meringue kisses smaller. Check them at about 25 minutes to see that they are not too browned.
