Homemade party supplies and handmade party goods for a Hawaiian luau are very easy to make. Therefore, a Hawaiian Luau is the perfect opportunity to make a handmade Hawaiian Lei and wear handmade costume jewelry. A Hawaiian lei is very easy to make and is the perfect handmade addition for a Hawaiian luau. It just would not be a Hawaiian themed fest without a lei. Making a lei is easy, but the most difficult task is stringing the flowers and beads. Using a four foot piece of dental floss and a carpet sewing needle, begin to string anywhere from 75 to 100 paper flowers through the floss one at a time (being sure to tie the floss on one end as you would do with any type of sewing project). The flowers can be alternated with a variety of beads to add variety and color. Once all of the flowers are strung through the floss, remove the needle and tie the ends together. This beautiful creation will be perfect for any Hawaiian luau.

A true Hawaiian luau includes a variety of homemade party supplies and handmade party goods, along with fashion jewelry and glow sticks. Actually, there is no comparison to a Hawaiian luau and a regular party. This is a one in a lifetime happening. Furthermore, the guests attending this party will give a great review of the homemade food and various other items at the Hawaiian luau.

A Hawaiian Luau is a time of celebration that brings together friends and family to honor and enjoy a tropical tradition; one made all the sweeter with the inclusion of a Hawaiian Luau party cake. This is a must have treat at a Hawaiian themed festivity.

When planning a Hawaiian Luau party cake, many party hosts choose to rely on traditional tropical standbys such as pineapple upside down cake or lemon cake. These are reliable staples guests are sure to enjoy. Or they could try something new, like a like tasty Banana Cake:

Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup of mashed ripe bananas
1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons of vanilla
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
½ teaspoon of baking powder
½ teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon
½ cup of butter
¾ cup of brown sugar
½ cup of granulated sugar
2 large eggs
How to Prepare:
In a small bowl, mix bananas, lemon juice and vanilla. In another small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, soda, salt and cinnamon. Then in a large bowl, beat the butter with the sugars then add the eggs, one at a time; beat well after each addition at low speed, then alternately add the flour mixture and the banana mixture. Then pour the batter in a 13-by-9 pan and spread it around evenly. Finally, bake the cake in a 350-degree oven for 25-30 minutes. This is a novel and tasty recipe guests are sure to savor. In fact they just may go bananas for this cake!

The Hawaiian Luau is not your typical backyard barbeque by any means, but it is certainly a fun occasion. Unlike the barbeque, you won’t find the typical hamburgers, hot dogs, and soft drink fare here, but that of the Islands with the drinks served in pineapples, coconuts, and other foods native to the Islands. If you have a pool, you may choose to decorate the surrounding area to resemble that one might find in Hawaii such as palm trees, leis, and tropical island snacks, fruits, and drinks.

For those who have dreamed of going to the Polynesian Islands but have not yet had the pleasure, the Hawaiian luau can give them a small taste of what they are missing. There is nothing better in the summer than to be transported to the Islands into a land that has only been in your dreams. In this land of make-believe, you can be anywhere you want to be, so just close your eyes and imagine that you are looking at Honolulu, Maui, or any of the other islands that comprise Hawaii.

While you sit around enjoying the tropical fruits, drinks, and entrees, you can visualize the land around you and make believe that you have been transported in time to another place, a place that is rich in tropical fruits, beverages that are freshly made from the fruits, and foods that are rich with the taste of pineapples, coconuts, and other tasty additions. In Hawaii, the word luau means “feast,” and it is not a huge celebration but rather a gathering of family and friends for food, fun, and entertainment that may even include a family member on the guitar or ukulele. Add your own touches to it and make it just what it is in Hawaii, friends and family together to have a great time.

Hawaiian Luau History, Facts and Educational Resources

Add an educational twist to any birthday party, holiday celebration, or theme party.  Share the history of the Hawaiian Luau theme to the guests.  Play some free printable educational party games.  Shhh don't tell the kids that they are learning!

The Luau is a time-honored festivity with a rich history in its native Hawaii; a Hawaiian party, by contrast is just a whole lot of fun. Please know the difference when planning this light tropical festivity.

Although inspired by the Luau (which is a Hawaiian word that means “feast”), which traces its origins to 1856, the Hawaiian party is a far more casual festivity that can have a flexible menu and entertainment schedule. Make sure that guests leave filled up and funned out!

While hosts who plan Luaus should serve traditional dishes such as kalua pig, poi, and taro tops, along with beers and tropical drinks, Hawaiian party hosts can feel freer to serve contemporary treats like hamburgers and hot dogs, American pork dishes and steaks; along with Maitais and other fruity drinks served with umbrellas. A nicely balanced menu will leave all guests satisfied. Entertainment at a Hawaiian party still could feature hula and Polynesian dancing; though guests are just as likely to disco or do the Electric Slide in their plastic grass skirts and synthetic leis. What a spectacle this will make, one that's YouTube worthy!

While a traditional Luau is a sacred ceremony conducted outdoors to honor Hawaiian gods, as well as major life milestones like graduations, birthdays, weddings, etc., a Hawaiian party could commemorate everything from an engagement to a Super Bowl win, or could be held just for the heck of it, as a frolicsome gathering of neighbors and friends. Tell your guests to get their hula out for this fest.

Hawaiian parties can be celebrated inside or outside, though they often take place poolside. And while they may not capture the sacred tradition that is a Hawaiian Luau, they still represent the beauty and fun spirit of the isle of Hawaii. Plan the ultimate Hawaiian party today! When decorating a room to match a given theme or idea explore not just the horizontal space, but the vertical space as well. Simple and well prepared food is often much better received at a gathering than complicated dished that don't quite hit the mark. When decorating a room to match a given theme or idea explore not just the horizontal space, but the vertical space as well. The history of Hawaiian Luau has different interpretations by each person, so use your own judgement. Share these facts with friends at a celebration.
