Handmade Hawaiian Party Favors

The Hawaiian themed party is always an opportunity to make handmade party favors because it is easy, colorful and very fun! For this craft, homemade leis will be made out of twine yarn/twine and flowers.

One of the easiest and quickest handmade party favors to create is handmade leis. All that is needed is inexpensive artificial flowers and some yard or twine. Twine sometimes makes better leis because it is stiffer and holds a shape better. Yard tends to close up more when on the neck but will work if that is what is available.

Start by removing the center of the artificial flowers and setting them aside. When a good stack is made, start assembling the leis by sliding the yarn or twine through the center of the flower. When the flower is in place, glue the center back in. Continue doing this until there is no space left. Leave some space in between flowers or stack them on top of each other, the choices is up to the host.

After the leis are in places, leave them to dry completely on a flat surface. The dry time will depend on the type of glue that is used. Check the bottle for details.

There are a lot of different things that can be added to these homemade party favors as well such as grasses, ribbons and bows. Add punches of color throughout the lei with different items that can be attached to the yarn or twine. It does not have to be the traditional flower.
