Hello Kitty has a much broader history then many of the characters available for kids today. Initially designed by Yuko Shimizu this character is considered a staple of some regions of Japanese pop culture. The character itself is displayed as a white female cat that is said to be the Japanese Bob Tail cat. The cat features a signature red bow. Hello Kittys first appearance was on a small vinyl pocket coin purse in 1975. Her popularity grew from there until she was brought to the US in 1976. As she made her sales debut in the United States once again her popularity topped the charts. Confusing was that other than an icon state, she had no other jobs or anything to recommend her to such lofty status.
In the years since the Hello Kitty history began she has gone entirely global and viral all over the market. The Hello Kitty product line now includes everything from expensive fashion designs to key chains, purses and many other product options. This product line has created a fashionable variety of accessories and clothing to suit the tone and style needs of just about any pre teen girl.
Hello Kitty has surpassed the economic history of many other characters that came before or after her. This character who mainly targets pre adolescent females has a wide reach all over the globe that does pull in just the perfect targeted age group. However, Hello Kitty has even reached beyond the age group their marketers intended to target by producing and selling vast amounts of adult women's clothing as well.
