Independence Day Costume
Independence Day is a holiday with many associations, all of which have to do with the date the United States of America formally declared its independence from the United Kingdom. This date is widely celebrated across the country with parties, parades and even fireworks. Naturally, a costume party is no big stretch. It's a chance for people to have fun, feel a little funky and socialize with others during the heat of summer. Even though 1776 was a long time ago it still a date etched in the minds of many Americans.
It will be easy for many guests to create their own costumes themed after the 4th of July. You'll see plenty of red, white and blue. Whether this comes in the form of body paint, clothing or sparkly costumes. I would bet that you'll see quite a few Uncle Sam‘s and maybe even a Statue of Liberty or two. Those that have trouble can get lots of ideas from you.
If you want you can even encourage some of the guests to go retro with their costumes. They can get dressed up in the clothing of the time when we first declared independence. Women in the cotton dresses and men in short pants and buckled shoes will certainly make your party more interesting. In fact, get the kids dressed up as a colonial boy and girl and teach them some of the old time party games from the revolutionary war era. Make sure to hand out prices for the best costumes at this Independence Day celebration.
