Crank up the music and play the songs that people want to hear at your next Luau themed party! Guests will want to hear sumptious and rhythmic tropical tunes. Among many Luau party supplies you will need to gather, a good playlist is one of the most important. A luau simply is not complete without some good music.

The Luau theme is carefree, light and fun; the music should reflect the same! People here will want to sing and dance. Below is a sample list of some of the songs you might want to play at your next Luau party gathering!

Beach Boys: Sufin’ USA
Bobby McFerrin: Don’t Worry Be Happy
Marky Mark: Good Vibrations
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole: Somewhere Over the Rainbow (When guests are relaxing)
Luau parties have both fast paced as well as slow and calming music attributes about them so it is best to mix them up accordingly. This way guests will not get bored or overtaxed. A good rule of thumb is not to play back to back slow songs. Throwing one in there for something different is a great idea but having them back to back might make the party feel a little sluggish.

Be sure to have plenty of songs on the playlist so they do not run out or repeat. Keep the music as fresh and tasty as the food. Even if you think you have enough for the time allotment, add more for a safe measure. Finally, adding a mixture of old and new is always fun and gives something for all guests to identify with. Whoa! Excitement is on its way with laughter and fun for everyone because you the host have thoroughly planned each and every aspect and possible scenario that could happen. A picture cake is worth a thousand words and will be one of the best and tastiest parts of any social occasion. Start planning early to allow for time to look at different ideas and looks, long before the appointed day.

Homemade Luau party supplies are simple and extremely fun to make for a Luau themed party. The process of their creation will be nearly as fun as the gala itself. Handmade luau party supplies are not only very fun to make but also can save party throwers a substantial amount of money. In today's budget conscious times this factor is important. There are numerous handmade luau party supplies to make such as leis, coconut drinking cups, tropical flower bouquets, and homemade tiki torches. Guests are sure to recognize these tropical symbols.

Handmade luau party supplies such as tiki torches can be made with minimal materials. To make a tiki torch take bamboo poles that are 3 inches thick and 5 feet long. Weave round reed and rawhide strips into a basket around the pole, so the pole is the base of the basket. Apply a line of glue between the pole and the reed for added reinforcement. Use cans of gel fuel to light the tike torch. Set the can of gel fuel inside the basket and rest it on the bamboo pole at the base. Research various styles of tiki torches to understand how they should look. Go for the authentic and tropical look at all times.

Handmade luau party supplies must include leis. It would not be a luau without a pretty and flowery lei. Purchase several hundred faux flower peddles (40-50) for each leis. Cut off 50 inches of dental floss and thread the dental floss through the lei needle. Clip the alligator clip onto the floss so 5 inches from the end furthest from the needle. Lace the needle through the middle of the base of a flower. String flowers until 5 inches remain and tie off.

A luau theme cake topper is a fun idea and should be thought of when acquiring party supplies. This is a special festivity that calls for a special cake. And, for that matter, an exquisite and theme relevant topper. Below is a list of items you will need to make the luau themed girl topper.

A doll the size you want the cake topper to be- A doll with darker colored, long hair often times gives the best look. One also might opt for a Hawaiian or beach themed Barbie doll.

Remnants of a grass skirt – You can also use real, dead and dried grass as well. Make sure it is long enough for your needs. You could also use twine if you do not have grass. Just be sure that the material chosen is realistic in appearance.

Scrap materials – preferably ones that have a Hawaiian theme to them (flowers, fire, etc.) Fresh and lovely florals are sure to please and impress guests.

Mini flowers – any artificial, tropical mini flowers will work.

Twine – enough for the grass skirt, head piece, etc.

Scissors, glue, thread and a needle. Although hardly exotic, these are the supplies you need.

First, create the skirt and tie it around the dolls waist. You can make it as short or as long as you want. The typical hula girl will have the grass skirt stop just about her ankles.

Next, create the top. This can be done by cutting out two triangles into the scrap material. Be sure to cut the flat part of the triangle pieces a little longer so the bottoms can be folded over and sewn or glued. Thread in the twine to make it tie around the back. Glue twine at the tops of both triangle and tie around her neck.

Finally, use the flowers to make a lei and a headpiece for her and you will have a beautiful Luau themed cake topper! Guests are sure to admire this lovely little festive adornment.

Luau paper party goods are essential parts of any summer tropically themed party regardless of the occasion. Birthday parties, graduations or any kind of pool party or cookout will be more festive when the bright colors of a luau are present.

Menu choices for the luau party can vary from simple pork and pineapple dishes to any sort of Asian or Polynesian foods. Paper flowers and grass skirts or mats add just the right touch when used with luau paper party goods. Elaborate tropical drinks served in real or plastic pineapples, oranges or coconuts can rely heavily on citrus punch and leave alcohol for another occasion.

Night time luau parties are the best as long as mosquitoes are uninvited. Speaking of invitations, there is lots of room for creative expression in the luau party cards. Try designing one of the home printer varieties using open domain clipart or original designs. Colorful sunsets, palm trees and grass huts on the beach will help create the setting.

If fortunate enough to have access to a public beach park or private yacht club facility; there will be the best choice for this salute to summer. Make sure that the beach is adequately groomed. Perhaps a clam bake can be added. When the local yacht club holds sail races or regattas try to schedule the luau for the same time if facilities and parking permit for both activities. This will add great entertainment value to the party.

When possible, sports like beach volleyball or frisbee golf will entertain both participants and spectators. Schedule a time that utilizes the blazing beauty of sunset if the local beach views the western sky. As the orange sun melts into the calm waters of night there will be no doubt that this is the best luau of summer.

The Luau is a beautiful festivity with a very rich history; one now celebrated in various forms around the world. Each country has its own delightful version of this occasion.

Native to the isle of Hawaii, the Luau (which is a Hawaiian word that means “feast”) traces its origins back to 1856. The purest, truest form of the Luau features genuine leis and meticulously prepared dishes such as kalua pig, poi, and taro tops; along with a rich assortment of beers and tropical drinks. This event is pure and true to the luau tradition. Entertainment at a Luau often involves hula and Polynesian dancing. You won't see the Macarena or Gangnam Style at this fest!

The Luau has evolved in many ways over time. Like many things it grows better with time. Once a segregated celebration in which women ate apart from men and were forbidden from eating certain foods, Luaus now involve equal participation from both genders. Today's woman demands equality, in the workplace and at the luau. Once a sacred ceremony conducted outdoors to honor Hawaiian gods, Luaus are now parties held both outside and at lavish indoor halls, to commemorate everything from graduations to birthdays, weddings to other special occasions. And to this day, organized Luaus take place annually at various locales throughout Hawaii, at gardens, hotels and cultural centers. It is not difficult to find a luau anywhere these days.

Although the intricate details of this celebration have shifted over time, certain aspects of the Luau are revered and maintained to this day. Some precious traditions must be observed here. To stage a proper Luau, hosts must stick to tradition; preparing the foods, decorations and ceremonial rites that separate the Luau from any number of fun tropical festivities. Guests at a Luau must show respect for time-honored traditions, while still having fun in the process.

Celebrate the richness of Hawaiian culture by staging a proper, perfect Luau. Plan the ultimate Luau party today! Start planning early to allow for time to look at different ideas and looks, long before the appointed day. An old tradition like having guests each bring a single layer of cake and assembling it into a stack cake with preserves in between the layers is always interesting and fun. Start planning early to allow for time to look at different ideas and looks, long before the appointed day. The history of Luau has different interpretations by each person, so use your own judgement. Share these facts with friends at a celebration.
