A luau party theme is a great party theme for incorporating homemade cookies. There are many types of Hawaiian recipes that include delicious Hawaiian foods like coconut, macadamia nuts, and pineapple. By making the cookies at home it adds a special touch that only something homemade can. Homemade cookies reflect a level of caring to even the pickiest of guests. Hawaiian tea cookies are one example of a simple to make recipe that are traditional to Hawaii and delicious. They follow the same recipe as a simple sugar cookie, but additionally the recipe calls for one cup of coconut and a tablespoon of vanilla extract. Once the dough is made it will need to be shaped into two rolls about two inches in diameter each. After the forming of the rolls is complete they will need to be covered and put into the refrigerator for at least four hours. When the four hours are up, its time for the baking to begin. The cookies will need to go into preheated 360 degree oven, but first they will need to be sliced into individual cookies. To do this it is important to have a sharp knife and cut the rolls about a quarter of an inch thick. Place each cut luau cookie one inch apart on a baking dish and put them in the oven for about ten minutes. Once they are slightly golden they are ready to come out of the oven. Place them on a wire rack to cool and you will have the tastiest homemade luau cookies.
