Handmade Luau Party Favors

A luau can be great fun, especially when you add your own homemade party favors. Luaus can take place on your own private section of a beach, or, with a little imagination, in your own backyard.

Handmade party favors can take the place of plastic, cheap-looking leis, by stringing flowers that are in season from your own backyard. And raffia can act as the material used for miniature thatch-roofed huts on the buffet table. It can also be the trim around any beach-themed tablecloth, to give the effect of a hula skirt. Beige, brown and green would be the perfect colors to use for these items.

Another great homemade party favor idea is the use of various seashells to hold place cards. A clam can be rinsed and scrubbed clean, painted with glitter on the inside, as well as the outside, and glued to a small piece of driftwood. Position it so that it is able to securely hold a place card, and your guests will admire your creativity as they find their way to the appropriate tables.

Driftwood and larger shells can be a part of your homemade party favor creations, as well. Scatter them strategically around to create a seaside ambiance with your décor. Use the same flowers that you used in the leis to enhance the atmosphere, as well.
