Mardi Gras Pink Lemonade

Mardi Gras Lemonade is very refreshing, and gives much energy I tend to make this for my children after soccer practice and also made it for my Mardi Gras theme party last month, total hit.

freshly squeezed juice of 9 lemons (1 1/2 cups)
5-6 cups of water
10-oz pkg. frozen strawberries, pureed (fresh would do perfectly well,
but I didn't happen to have any available when I made this last night)
sugar to taste

Combine lemon juice, water, and 3/4 of the strawberry puree. Add sugar until you have reached the desired tartness/sweetness. Add strawberry puree until the strawberry/lemon taste balance is about equal.

This pure refreshing homemade lemonade is the best drink for those hot summer days, also for events and simply the entire family, I always make it when its hot and really makes me feel better after drinking some. Match the party recipe with Mardi Gras party supplies to keep the theme flowing. Sprinkle the event with a fabulous Oktoberfest recipe for more scrumptious food.

Mardi Gras is a tradition of the French culture. In America we have made a large celebration out of the holiday by having street parties, drinking and plenty of food available. Here is just a sample:

In New Orleans were the biggest Mardi Gras party is held you will find Gumbo, Jambalaya, Seafood, and lots of Bloody Mary’s on the list. These will well and truly get the party underway.

Ham and Sausage Jambalaya requires 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 1 package of kielbasa, 2 large onions, 1 medium green pepper, 1 cup chopped celery, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 3 cups of chicken broth, 1 can diced tomatoes, ˝ pound of cooked ham, 1 bay leaf, 1 teaspoon of Tabasco sauce, ˝ teaspoon of thyme, 1/8 teaspoon of ground allspice, and 1 ˝ cups uncooked rice. You heat the oil in a saucepan add the sausage, onions, green pepper, celery, garlic, and cook until the vegetables are tender. Then you add the chicken broth, tomatoes, ham, bay leaf, Tabasco, thyme and allspice. You will cook it for 15 minutes then add the rice and cook for another 15 minutes.

Mardi Gras sticks to the tradition that spicy food is great for the stomach. You may want to have a little milk on hand if you or your guests have sensitive mouths, but it’s guaranteed the taste is exceptional for Jambalaya, Gumbo and any other Mardi Gras dish you will seek during the week long celebration.

If you take any of these tips, or a few of your own, on board for a Mardi Gras Holiday, it won’t just be the food that will be exceptional. It definitely doesn’t take a lot to create a Mardi Gras party to remember. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create a complete Mardi Gras theme party feeling.

MARDI GRAS PAPER ARROW: For this activity you need paper planes use Mardi Gras colors gold, purple and green. It's better to play this game when it's windless. The players are divided into 2 teams. Draw a line on the ground. The first player who is going to throw the plane stands on it. The player of the second team throws the plane from the place where it landed. He/she throws the plane in the opposite direction. The next player of the first team throws the plane in the opposite direction from the place where it landed. So the players of 2 teams take their turns in throwing the plane in the opposite directions. If after the final throw the plane landed at the line, it means that both teams threw the plane equally. If the plane landed far off the line in the direction in which one of the teams threw the plane, this team wins the game. More fun with Mardi Gras games.
