Martin Luther King Jr. Day is very special for so many people and celebrating it is important. One way for kids to get involved in the celebration is to make decorations of their own with crafts. They will have fun doing this and the family can be together.

One craft that all kids will love is the freedom bell. You will need these supplies, pattern of a bell, poster board, silver and gold foil. Trace the bell pattern onto the poster board. Cut out the bell and then decorate with gold and silver foil by covering it completely. Then write the word “Freedom” across the front of the bell. This craft will be fun for kids and you can teach them about Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous speech.

Another great craft that kids love to do is called I Have A Dream. The supplies you will need are blue construction paper, white cloud cutouts, glue and a pencil. The base of this craft is going to be the blue construction paper. Put the words “I Have A Dream” across the top of the blue paper. Have the kids cut out the clouds. Then they can glue them onto the paper so it looks like the sky. When kids make this craft you can teach them about Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream. Find out what the kid’s dreams are for our country and then write them on the picture. These two crafts are fun and easy to do and while the kids are doing this you can be teaching them something important.
