Use your imagination to create a whole city. Lots of these items can be found in miniature stores, or other places where they sell miniature towns for the toy train enthusiast. You might even use Monopoly pieces. Or some cake-making stores may have edible sugar buildings for the kids. Place the cake on a cardboard of the same size. You’ll need a pressurized can of whipped cream, and about two feet of a small plastic hose that fits over the nozzle of the can. The end of the hose will fit tightly around a partially blown up balloon. Cut the cardboard in half, and make a jagged edged cut into the cake, then cover it with frosting. When you’re ready for the special effect, hold the whipped cream can upright, and hold the hose in the other hand. When you press on the nozzle, just for a second or two, this will inflate the balloon enough to crack the cake in half where you’ve made the jagged edge. You can do this a few times to really make the crowd roar.

A Marvel Super Hero Squad cake for the little fan would make this the best birthday to date (downside is that you might have to top this great cake with another next year). For the Marvel Super Hero Squad, use multiple layers to represent some one the different Marvel characters such as Hulk, Ironman, Captain America, Silver Surfer, and Wolverine. For example, this type of cake would have 5 layers each representative of each marvel character. One of the more challenging fondant colors to make is gold and silver. In regards to Silver Surfer cake tier, paint grey fondant with silver luster dust mixed with vodka. To ensure and entire tier is ruined, practice making the silver fondant on a small section of fondant, then once the color is satisfactory, then apply the luster dust and vodka to the larger piece of fondant that will cover the cake.
