Regardless of which type of cake is chose, the knights and princesses in your life will be very happy.

Traditionally, a medieval cake can be made either as a tiered cake or as a rectangular sheet cake. Either option will be acceptable, but the cake choice should be determined by the number of people at your medieval party. One great cake idea is to turn the cake into a castle or dungeon. Both of these ideas can be designed using a sheet cake. Put a touch of the long distant past into your party with a Medieval theme. Everyone thinks of the Medieval period as one full of knights in shining armor rescuing damsels in distress. It is not only a taste of history when you host a medieval party, but you give your guests an opportunity to see things they may not have seen, and maybe even join in the fun.

Have you ever had dreams of being rescued by a knight? Use the Medieval party as a chance to realize a dream, and let your significant other play the part of the night who rescues you from danger. Does it sound silly? Of course it does, but are not parties supposed to be fun? So do what you want with your party, and let your guests do accordingly. This is the 21st century, so where are you going to finish Medieval wear? You can find it at any stores that sell costumes, and even if you aren’t having your party around Halloween, there are still many costume stores open – after all, schools and theatres have stage productions that require costumes, and not everyone does custom-made costumes. You may have to search a little bit, but you can fight a costume that is fitting for the medieval period. If you want to be really creative with your party, you may even find a replica of a horse or find a couple of friends who are willing to play the part of the horse and make your rescue more authentic.

Other ideas for your party include pirate themes with treasure hunts and scavenger hunts that are based on items from the period, available in stores that specialize in theme parties. If time permits, you may choose to conduct in depth research and serve food, drinks, and entertainment that are in tune with the Medieval period in history.

Add an educational twist to any birthday party, holiday celebration, or theme party.  Share the history of the Medieval theme to the guests.  Play some free printable educational party games.  Shhh don't tell the kids that they are learning!

A medieval festival or party is a terrific way to introduce middle school kids to the history of the world, a much better way than setting them down in front of the black boards, and history books. With all of the different fun facts that are out there, this can be an interactive learning lesson for the 5th and 6th graders in your classroom, or if you are involved in other school or church festivities. What one can do is get with the other teachers if you are the history teacher; ask each subject to teach something in regards to medieval math, proper etiquette and English for that time and about maps and world history. Once the lessons have been outlined take different people from that era and write their names down starting with royalty, one king, queen a prince and a princess and work your way down to peasants, butchers, their wives etc so that way every student will have a role in this part of the lesson.

Most people are amazed at the history behind many celebrations and how music from the past and present will add to the event. Like other get togethers this small addition will add a great deal to the celebration. For this reason, guests of the party will find this celebration to be a lot of fun and very special. At the end of the lesson allow the kids to have a medieval festival asking them to dress in character, have a meal presented to the king and queen and other royal family members; this is where the meat carver and spouse can come in to play, offering the food to the royal family, You may also go through and offer different medieval facts, and sporting events to entertain the royal family as well. Each grade and be based on their roles and classroom participation and costumes for character and role playing. When all is said and done, favors given to those guests who were able to attend will both feel appreciated and be reminded of the day whenever they look at that favor. Use unscented candles at a dinner, because the fragrance from the candle may not mix well with the aroma of the food. When all is said and done, favors given to those guests who were able to attend will both feel appreciated and be reminded of the day whenever they look at that favor. The history of Medieval has different interpretations by each person, so use your own judgement. Share these facts with friends at a celebration.
