Start the party process by buying the little things, which are napkins, utensils, paper goods, goodie bags, and posters. Once these things have been bought, its time to move to the major things. You can then get centerpieces, tablecloths, and party favors. You just don’t want to forget about the little things, so buy them first to avoid forgetting.

Every children’s party needs plenty of napkins. Children may get rather messy so ensure there are many napkins to clean spilled drinks and food off their shirts. Napkins are not the only requirement for a birthday party or special occasion party – party games are also a must. Select party games that are related to the party theme, if one is selected. For example, a luau party theme is selected then play luau related party games such as Pass the Coconut Game (Hawaiian version of Hot Potato), Kimo Says Hula Game (Hawaiian version of Simon Says), Hula Contest, Hawaii Pictionary, and Musical Beach Towel game. The Musical Beach Towel game is a version of musical chairs. Lay out one less beach towel and/or beach mat than players. Have the players walk in a circle around the towels/mats when the music plays. When the music is turned off the beach walkers must stand on the towel/mat. The player who does not make it to a towel/mat must sit out until the next game. Remove another towel/mat and turn the music back on. Keep repeating this until there is only one beach walker left just like musical chairs. Ensure everyone is dressed for a luau party, or other theme party, by letting guests know that dressing up is encouraged on the invitations. Parents need a heads up if they must get their children luau dresses and shirts before the luau party.
