There are many fish recipe options available when you are looking to throw a nautical themed party
In order for your party menu to stand out in the crowd, you will want to try something just a little different than the norm. This recipe is for a delicious cedar plank pepper honey salmon.
What You Will Need:
1/4 cup of pineapple juice
2 tablespoons of white vinegar
2 (12 inch) cedar planks (untreated)
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
3/4 cup of honey
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
6 boneless and skinless salmon fillets
First prepare the cedar planks by soaking them in water for about 2 hours. You can put a little bourbon in the water as well if you want.
Simmer together the soy sauce, lemon juice, pineapple juice, olive oil and honey over a medium high heat. When it starts to simmer, bring the heat back down to medium low and stir in the cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, paprika, garlic powder and the sugar. Simmer some more for about 15 minutes, stirring every now and again, until it is syrupy; set aside when done.
Prepare your grill at medium heat and place the planks on the grate. Wait for them to start to smoke and crackle. Once it does, the salmon is ready to start cooking. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste on the fillets and put them on the grill and cook for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes spoon some sauce on the fillets and continue cooking them for another 5 minutes or until they are opaque.
You can use the sauce for when it comes time to serve the meal.

Pin the Sail on the Boat:
Most hosts will find that fun and exciting activities such as this are always a great addition to any type of celebration. More often than not fun activities in which everyone can play and participate will liven up the event and make it very special. For this reason, planning in advance will be very beneficial for the host. This is a spin off on the traditional Pin the Tail on the Donkey to give it a more nautical feel. First get a large picture of a boat without a sail. You can download one off the internet. Just make sure it is of good resolution because you would want to print it out on a large sheet of paper. Now stick this picture on a large piece of cardboard. Then stick a picture of proportionately sized sailed on another piece of cardboard and cut it out. Stick a nail or pin into it. At the party give your guests turns at being blindfolded and trying to pin the sail onto the big picture of the boat at the right position.
